HC Deb 24 October 1944 vol 404 cc16-7
34. Sir T. Moore

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what reply he has given, or the action he has taken, in regard to the memorandum he has received from the Scottish Council of Industry on the subject of retaining Prestwick airport as a post-war Atlantic terminal.

Mr. Johnston

I received last week the submission referred to, and I am giving it careful consideration with a view to bringing the arguments and claims in favour of Prestwick to the notice of the Minister for Civil Aviation, and other Ministers concerned.

Sir T. Moore

Will my right hon. Friend give this proposal his enthusiastic support, in view of its vital importance to the future prosperity of Scotland and to civil aviation?

Mr. Johnston

I have already indicated my enthusiastic support.
