HC Deb 18 October 1944 vol 403 c2436

2.8 p.m.

Mr. H. Strauss

I beg to move, in page 22, line 25, leave out "to enter on the land," and insert: as respects the whole or any part of the land, to enter thereon. I hope that I shall have the support of my hon. Friend the Member for Peckham (Mr. Silkin) on this Amendment, because it carries out a promise to look into a point which he invited us to examine. He rightly pointed out that the expedited procedure should be capable of application, if so desired, to part only of the area of a compulsory purchase order instead of either the whole or none. We think that that is a good point, and this Amendment remedies what my hon. Friend pointed out as a possible defect.

Amendment agreed to.

Further Amendment made: In page 22, line 32, after "order," insert: as respects all or any of the land to which the order relates, being land as to which the said Minister is satisfied as aforesaid."—[Mr. H. Strauss.]
