Major Lloydasked the Secretary of State for Scotland, whether the Council of Industry for Scotland has now made representations to him on the subject of the deconcentration of concentrated industries in Scotland, with a view to facilities being granted as soon as possible for some resumption of the manufacture of their erstwhile products which are in short supply and of which the public is in urgent need.
Mr. JohnstonThe Council has not submitted any general statement to me on this matter, but it has from time to time made representations in the case of particular industries in Scotland regarding the problems, whether of labour, material or premises, which are likely to affect the resumption of peace-time production. I have brought every such case to the attention of the Minister concerned.
