HC Deb 17 October 1944 vol 403 c2204
83. Sir Murdoch Macdonald

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has taken any action to implement any of the suggestions of the Hill Sheep Committee and, in particular, has he considered the setting up of any of the family sheep farms mentioned in that Report.

The Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. T. Johnston)

Yes, Sir, I have initiated negotiations with all the interests concerned over some of the issues raised by the Report. Meanwhile I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave on 3rd October to the hon. Member for West Perth (Mr. Snadden). As regards the question of family sheep farms, this must be considered in the light of the Report of the Committee on Land Settlement which I hope will shortly be available.
