HC Deb 17 October 1944 vol 403 c2188
43. Mr. Gallacher

asked the Secretary of State for War if he has inquired into the complaint, sent to him by the hon. Member for West Fife, regarding the anti-Soviet speech made by Major-General Burrows at G.H.Q., Cairo, and what steps he proposes to take.

Sir J. Grigg

I have received the hon. Member's letter and I am making inquiries.

Mr. Gallacher

Can we take it that the Minister, in making inquiries, will preserve the attitude he announced in the House in answer to a Question some time ago, namely, that he is not an enemy of the Soviet Union but is neutral?

Sir J. Griĥg

I certainly will preserve that attitude, and I will also preserve the attitude of not condemning, until I have heard both sides of the case.
