§ 41. Mr. Lipsonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will consider taking steps to increase the authority and powers of the local councils in Palestine so as to enable them to play a more responsible part in local administration.
§ Colonel StanleyThe progressive extension of the powers of local authorities is a matter which has engaged active attention of the Palestine Government during recent years. An ordinance is in process of enactment empowering the High Commissioner to set up village councils.
