HC Deb 15 November 1944 vol 404 c1962
52. Mr. Keeling

asked the Minister of Food what happens to cheese rejected by his Department as being too crumbly.

The Minister of Food (Colonel Llewellin)

In the rare cases in which this happens it is converted into processed cheese.

Mr. Keeling

Is not cheese all the better for being crumbly, and will not my right hon. and gallant Friend consider allowing the public to eat it as it is off the ration?

Colonel Llewellin

It is sometimes difficult to cut crumbly cheese in the portions necessary for the ration.

Mr. Keeling

I said, "off the ration."
