HC Deb 08 November 1944 vol 404 c1350
40. Mr. John Dugdale

asked the Postmaster-General how it was that air letters posted on 17th and 18th October for the Forces in S.E.A.C. and for the Forces and civilians in India, Ceylon, Australia and New Zealand were lost through causes other than enemy action.

Mr. Grimston

I regret to say that the aircraft by which the air letter mails in question were conveyed was involved in an accident abroad and that salvage of the mails was impracticable, but the air-graphs have been rephotographed and forwarded in a subsequent despatch.
