HC Deb 08 November 1944 vol 404 c1361
62. Sir I. Fraser

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he will lengthen substantially the time during which disabled naval personnel may remain in the Navy, so that they may enjoy the pay and status thus afforded and continue to wear uniform, thus minimising the invidious distinction between serving men and discharged men who are in the same hospital at the same time.

Mr. Alexander

I will have my hon. and gallant Friend's suggestion examined, but, in view of the many difficulties involved, I can hold out no promise that this is possible.

Sir I. Fraser

Will the First Lord consult with the other Service Ministers in this matter, and, in view of the answer given by the Secretary of State for Air earlier to-day, will he see if something can be done to meet a real[...]need?

Mr. Alexander

I will certainly consult with my colleagues in the Service Departments.
