HC Deb 02 November 1944 vol 404 c935
8. Mr. Hugh Lawson

asked the Minister of Labour if he is considering plans for the post-war recruitment of domestic servants; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Mr. Bevin

As I explained in reply to the hon. Members for Eye (Mr. E. Granville) on 1st August, I am working on the results of an examination of the proposals and suggestions which have reached me on the subject of the organisation of private domestic employment after the war. I am at present in consultation with the other Government Departments concerned.

Mr. Lawson

Are the Government considering any compulsion in the recruitment of domestic servants after the war?

Mr. Bevin

No, Sir.
