§ 46. Mr. John Dugdaleasked the Prime Minister whether he has received any official information from the Soviet Government as to its intention to send delegates to the Civil Aviation Conference at Chicago.
§ Mr. AttleeYes, Sir. The Soviet Ambassador has officially notified His Majesty's Government of the decision of the Soviet Government not to be represented at the conference.
§ Mr. DugdaleIf, as reported in the Press, this decision is due to the fact that invitations have been Sent to the Fascist Government of Spain, will my right hon. Friend see whether representations can be made to those responsible for organising the conference, that the invitations to the Spanish Government be withdrawn?
§ Mr. AttleeI understand that objection was taken because the Spanish and other neutral Governments were invited, but clearly this is a matter, not for this Government, but for the Government of the United States, which is summoning the conference.
