45. Miss Wardasked the Prime Minister whether, in order to ensure a co-ordinated economic policy between this country and foreign countries, he will appoint a special economic sub-committee of the Cabinet, presided over by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
§ The Deputy Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)The broad issues of external economic policy are, of course, for the War Cabinet. Many Departments are concerned in this field, and I can assure my hon. Friend that as and when appropriate such questions are remitted for consideration by Cabinet Committees. But I would remind her that it is contrary to general practice to disclose or discuss details of Cabinet Committee machinery.
§ Sir Herbert WilliamsCan the Minister say when the Cabinet can tell us how and when we are to compete with America after the war?
