HC Deb 01 November 1944 vol 404 cc797-8
49. Flight-Lieutenant Teeling

asked the Minister of Food what arrangements he has made to alter the national regulations for the catering industry to meet the special requirements of the South Coast area; and whether he is aware of the difference between the catering arrangements in the North of England, in Scotland and on the South Coast.

Colonel Llewellin

In reply to the first part of the Question I would refer my hon. Friend to the replies I gave him on 25th October. So far as the second part of the Question is concerned, I am of course aware that more catering establishments have closed down during the war in the South than is the case in Scotland or the North. That is why I have made special arrangements for the re-instatement of traders in the South.

Flight-Lieutenant Teeling

In view of the fact that since the ban has been lifted numbers of people have been pouring into the South coast areas and the food situation is not so good as in the North, does not my right hon. and gallant Friend feel that other arrangements should be made—

Mr. Speaker

The hon. and gallant Member seems to be making a speech rather than asking a question.
