HC Deb 25 May 1944 vol 400 cc902-3
7. Mr. Liddall

asked the Minister of Labour the number of male persons under the age of 30 who are at present employed in theatres and music-halls; how many have served with His Majesty's Forces, and for what reason were they discharged.

Mr. Bevin

I regret that the information asked for by my hon. Friend is not available.

Mr. Liddall

Will the same consideration as is shown in this case be shown to small private traders?

Mr. Bevin

Yes, Sir. I think I have tried to treat everybody justly.

Viscountess Astor

Is not the Minister aware that some of the most tragic cases are among those fellows who cannot go into the Army or the Air Force, and who Teel it very deeply?
