§ 28. General Sir George Jeffreysasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is proposing to take any action with a view to giving effect to the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on Justices' Clerks.
§ Mr. H. MorrisonYes, Sir. There have been preliminary informal talks with representative clerks of the peace and clerks to justices, and I am hoping shortly 916 to bring to the notice of justices certain of the recommendations that can be brought into effect without legislation. I am not yet in a position to make any statement with regard to legislation on this subject.
§ Sir G. JeffreysWill my right hon. Friend consider one of the recommendations, to the effect that rules of procedure should be laid clown for all benches of magistrates?
§ Mr. MorrisonI forget whether that would require legislation or not. If it does not, I will certainly take it into early account.
