HC Deb 23 May 1944 vol 400 c565
35. Mr. A. Edwards

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Warfare whether he can give an estimate of Germany's stocks of wolfram, tin and chrome, respectively.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Warfare (Mr. Dingle Foot)

Germany's stocks both of wolfram anti of chrome ore are believed to be small. There is evidence that the shortage of wolfram is now particularly acute. Stocks of tin are thought to be relatively rather larger. Germany has also, of course, a certain supply of all these metals in the form of scrap and secondary metal recoverable in various forms. My intelligence officers naturally attempt to make more exact estimates than these, but it would not be in the public interest to reveal their conclusions.

Mr. G. Strauss

Are our Portuguese Allies still continuing to supply Germany with the bulk of her wolfram ore?
