asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the various allowances are ignored and only basic pay taken into account when computing the supplementation paid to civil servants serving in His Majesty's Forces.

Most of the allowances payable to members of the Services are taken into account for this purpose, but there are certain exceptions. I am sending my hon. and gallant Friend a copy of the Treasury Circular explaining the arrangements.
