§ 58. Mr. Stokesasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the British experts who collaborated in drawing up the Joint Statement by experts on the establishment of an International Monetary Fund were Treasury officials; and, if not, from what organisations were they selected.
§ Sir J. AndersonYes, Sir. Apart from Lord Keynes, the United Kingdom experts who collaborated in drawing up the Joint Statement were permanent Treasury officials and whole-time temporary officials who have been in the service of the Government throughout the war.
§ Mr. StokesCan the Chancellor assure the House that the whole-time temporary servants who have been in the employment of the Treasury for the period of the war are not drawn either from commercial or banking interests?
§ Sir J. AndersonNo, Sir, I do not think I could give such an assurance as that.
