HC Deb 11 May 1944 vol 399 c2072
34. Mr. Tinker

asked the Minister of Pensions if he will state, to the most recent date available, the number of parents who have lost sons through war service and have not been awarded a pension through their means being above the scale upon which a pension is awarded.

Mr. Paling

The number of such cases is approximately 24,000. All the cases can, of course, be reopened at any time if the parents' circumstances alter.

Mr. Tom Brown

Is my right Friend aware that the index of public opinion is rising very rapidly against his Department for not granting pensions for these parents?
