HC Deb 03 May 1944 vol 399 c1314
35. Miss Ward

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is now in a position to state what decision has been reached regarding the establishment of machinery whereby questions relating to the conditions of service of Government employees in Malta can be discussed between the employing authorities and the representatives of the employees.

Colonel Stanley

I am glad to be able to announce that the Governor of Malta has decided, in consultation with the Service authorities in the Colony, to establish a Labour Co-ordination Committee. The committee will be composed of representatives of the Malta Government, of the Service Departments and of associations of their employees, and its primary purpose will be to provide standing consultative machinery for the discussion between these employing authorities and their employees of matters of common interest.

Miss Ward

Is my right hon. and gallant Friend aware of the great satisfaction that this will give to all sections of the community in Malta?
