§ 21. Major C. S. Taylorasked the Minister of Information whether he will arrange for an unexpurgated edition in English of the book "China's Destiny," by Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, to be placed in the Library of the House.
§ Mr. BrackenNo English edition of President Chiang Kai-shek's book has been published either in China or here. I understand, however, that work on an authorised English translation is now in progress and, in the event of this being produced, I will certainly arrange for a copy to be placed in the Library of the House.
§ Major TaylorWhile thanking the right hon. Gentleman for his reply, may I ask is it true that this book is highly critical of Britain? In view of the fact that certain remarks in it may damage the Allied war interests, have representations been made to the Chinese Government?
§ Mr. BrackenFirst of all the supplementary question has, nothing whatever to do with the Question put down. Secondly, until I read the book, I cannot form any opinion.
