§ 40. Mr. Cocksasked the Secretary of State for India what measures are being taken or are contemplated by the Government of India to check and reduce inflation as envisaged in Lord Wavell's recent speech.
§ Mr. AmeryI cannot within the limits of a question and answer do justice to the very comprehensive programme of anti-inflationary measures which the Government of India have in hand. I propose to place in the Library as soon as possible copies of the Budget speech recently made by the Finance Member of the Government of India, which includes a full survey of the problem and of the Government of India's policy in relation to it. I am also sending a copy to my hon. Friend.
