§ 29. Mr. Turtonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether effect has now been given to the recommendation of Mr. Alexander Paterson that a woman justice of the peace should be appointed to assist in the trial of juvenile cases in Gambia.
§ The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Colonel Oliver Stanley)Mrs. Hannah Mahoney has been appointed to be a Justice of the Peace within the Colony 841 of the Gambia with effect from the 1st January last. Mrs. Mahoney is a member of a specially constituted bench of justices that has been set up to deal with juvenile offenders.
