HC Deb 22 March 1944 vol 398 c855
49. Viscountess Astor

asked the Minister of Supply what quantity of paper is used for the production of illustrated publications of the nude, ostensibly intended for art students; and, as these publications are sold in shops frequented mainly by men who are not art students and in quantities far beyond the needs of art students and in view of the shortage of paper for text books, will he consider withdrawing the paper supply for such publications.

The Minister of Supply (Sir Andrew Duncan)

I am sure that the Noble Lady will understand that it is not feasible to keep statistics in sufficient detail to give her the information for which she asks.

Viscountess Astor

Will the right hon. Gentleman look at some of these publications, and will he bear one thing, and only one thing, in mind, namely, whether they are good for the winning of the war or detrimental to it? That is all I am thinking about.

Mr. John Dugdale

Will the right hon. Gentleman see that some of these publications are laid on the Table of the House?
