§ 39. Mr. Hewlettasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the principles on which home leave is being granted to civil servants in the Colonies with long unbroken periods of service.
§ Colonel StanleyColonial Service officers in West Africa have been able to obtain regular home leave on a modified scale, though tours of service have had to be extended. In other territories, the grant of home leave has been severely limited by the difficulty of securing 847 passages and by the general shortage of staff. Within these limits, every effort is made both by my Department and by Colonial Governments to provide facilities for home leave.
