16. Miss Wardasked the Secretary of State for War why it is not permitted for soldiers to use their free-travel vouchers to visit Luxor when members of the R.A.F. are so permitted; and will he take steps to abolish this anomaly.
§ Sir J. GriggMy hon. Friend is, I think, misinformed. The free vouchers are granted for a journey to the nearest suitable leave centre and soldiers may go to Luxor if this is the nearest centre. I understand that similar rules apply to members of the R.A.F.
§ Sir J. GriggThis is not the first time that I have had a dispute with the hon. Lady on a question of fact.
Miss WardIs my right hon. Friend aware that this is not the first time that I have been right and he has been wrong?
§ Sir J. GriggThat is an additional cause for disagreement.
§ Mr. R. J. TaylorWill the right hon. Gentleman allow the hon. Lady to have the last word?
§ Commander Sir Archibald SouthbyAt any rate, the right hon. Gentleman has had the last word.
