HC Deb 21 March 1944 vol 398 cc651-2
21. Mr. Leslie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has considered the proposals of the Lerwick Harbour Trust for the reconstruction of the fishing industry and the proposals sent to him from the local Labour Party for the rural reconstruction of Shetland; and what action he intends taking to deal with these reports.

The Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. T. Johnston)

The proposals of the harbour trustees have been referred to the Council on Industry, and are presently being considered by the Council's two Committees on Canning and on the White Fish Industry in Scotland, the further proposals to which my hon. Friend refers have not yet reached me, although I have seen references to them in the Press.
