31. Mr. Harvey

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his attention has been called to the Motion moved in the Legislative Council of Northern Rhodesia in favour of the appointment of a commission to investigate and report on the economic resources of Northern Rhodesia as a safeguard against the over dependence on copper; and whether any action is being taken by the Government with this end in view.

Yes, Sir. The Northern Rhodesia Government has arranged for a preliminary inquiry to be undertaken by an expert as to the possibility of developing secondary industries in the territory.
