HC Deb 15 March 1944 vol 398 cc216-7
13. Mr. Bartle Bull

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport if, in order to save paper and time, he will consider introducing return tickets on the services operated by the L.P.T.B. and a ticket which would be good for a specified number of journeys within a given time.

Mr. Noel-Baker

The general introduction of return tickets on the Road services of the London Passenger Transport Board would greatly complicate the work of the conductors and conductresses, since they would have to carry many additional sets of tickets. For this reason, I think that the balance of advantage is against the proposal made by my hon. Friend.

Mr. Bull

What about the underground, and what about the answer to the second point?

Mr. Noel-Baker

There are return tickets on the underground.

Mr. Bull

If the hon. Gentleman can buy me a return ticket from Hyde Park Corner to Enfield West to-day or tomorrow, I will give him my next three months' clothing coupons.
