HC Deb 15 March 1944 vol 398 c245
62. Mr. Logan

asked the Minister of Food if he has given consideration to the letter of 7th March, sent from the Liverpool food executive officer calling his attention to the disparity of fish supplies as sent to Merseyside; and is he now able to state if he can give Merseyside an additional port of supply.

Colonel Llewellin

In view of the present demands upon transport, I cannot give Liverpool a second port of supply, but I am arranging for an increased supply of fish to be available in the Fleetwood zone.

Mr. Logan

Are we to understand that in view of not being able to get transport we shall get a greater allocation in future?

Colonel Llewellin

What will happen is that a ship will be diverted to the Fleetwood area to bring in more fish there, but the supplies for Liverpool will still be drawn from Fleetwood.
