HC Deb 08 March 1944 vol 397 c2031
9. Mr. Granville

asked the Secretary of State for Air if it is intended to hold an international air-line conference in London in the near future; and whether his Department is to be represented at such a meeting.

Sir A. Sinclair

I understand that a company which operated services in this country before the war, has on its own initiative issued invitations to a number of air-line operators to attend a meeting in London in May. The arrangements for this meeting are entirely unofficial and the Air Ministry will not be represented. I should, perhaps, add that statements which have appeared in the Press to the effect that the meeting has the support of the Air Ministry are without foundation.

Mr. Granville

Does that mean that all the suggestions of official and governmental talks with the United States will be allowed to drop?

Sir A. Sinclair

No, Sir, that is quite a different and a much larger question.
