HC Deb 07 March 1944 vol 397 cc1877-8
73. Mr. Granville

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he can make a statement on the withdrawal of the British Military Mission from Turkey.

The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Eden)

I have no statement to make on this subject at present.

Mr. Granville

In view of the serious statements in the Press this morning from Cairo, will the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind the importance of making an official statement at the earliest opportunity; and can he say whether, in fact, the British Mission has left Turkey?

Mr. Eden

I have given the only answer I am prepared to give. I have no statement to make at present.
