§ 27. Mr. Edmund Harveyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will give particulars of 1561 the present position of the inhabitants of the Channel Islands as regards food, fuel and clothing supplies; and whether any further steps can be taken to secure controlled relief for them through the International Red Cross.
§ Mr. H. MorrisonSuch information as is available indicates that, while there is a shortage of essential supplies, as compared with this country, the deficiencies have not been such as to impair the general health of the inhabitants. That we cannot share our supplies with our fellow countrymen in the Islands must be a matter of deep regret to all of us, and the question of finding any method of helping the Islands has received, and will continue to receive, close attention.
