36. Mr. Edmund Harvey

asked the Secretary of State for India whether, in view of the publication in the Press of extracts from the correspondence between Mr. Gandhi and the Viceroy, subsequent to Mr. Gandhi's fast and, for the sake of accurate information, the full text of the correspondence will now be issued in this country.

Mr. Amery

Yes, Sir. The pamphlet containing the correspondence in question, which has been published by the Government of India, has not yet reached this country, but I hope shortly to be able to make it available to the Press and to place copies in the Library.

Mr. Harvey

Will it be possible for the public to secure copies of this pamphlet?

Mr. Amery

It will be given to the Press and also laid in the Library of the House, so that it will be generally available.

Mr. Sorensen

Will the whole correspondence be published?

Mr. Amery

Yes, Sir, and I believe it covers a great volume of paper.
