HC Deb 21 June 1944 vol 401 c188
47. Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Prime Minister whether His Majesty's Government and the other Allies have been consulted by the Washington Government in framing the plan for world peace recently suggested by Mr. Roosevelt; and whether he will give an assurance that the British Parliament will have the opportunity of discussing the plan before any final decision is reached.

The Deputy Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)

Ideas have been exchanged with the United States Government on this subject from time to time, and more particularly during Mr. Stettinius' recent visit to this country. Proposals on the lines indicated by President Roosevelt have been under discussion, but we have not yet reached the stage for decisions on the many questions involved. The answer to the second part of the Question is in the affirmative.

Mr. Davies

Can my right hon. Friend say whether it is intended that all the Allies should consult together for this kind of world peace after the war is over to arrive at a joint decision which is then to be laid before the Parliaments of the several Governments? Is that the intention?

Mr. Attlee

Perhaps my hon. Friend will put that question down.
