HC Deb 21 June 1944 vol 401 c175
27. Mr. Craven-Ellis

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what is the reason for the dismissal of a statistical officer, whose name has been furnished to him, who was appointed to organise a statistical section of A.M.R. department of the Fleet Air Arm.

The First Lord of the Admiralty (Mr. A. V. Alexander)

It became clear early in this officer's probationary period that he was unsuited to the duties for which he had been entered, and his appointment was terminated at one month's notice, in accordance with his letter of appointment.

Mr. Craven-Ellis

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the officer in question was never given any statistical work, which was the job for which he was appointed?

Mr. Alexander

I am not aware of that.

Mr. Craven-Ellis

Will the right hon. Gentleman look into the matter, so that this officer may have a square deal?

Mr. Alexander

I have no reason to suppose that he did not.

Mr. Craven-Ellis

Will the right hon. Gentleman see that——

Mr. Speaker

We cannot spend all this time on one individual case.
