HC Deb 20 June 1944 vol 401 c11
13. Mr. G. Strauss

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Warfare how many Spanish ships are now engaged in trading with the enemy; and whether any further pressure is being brought on the Spanish Government to cease giving commercial aid to the German Government.

Mr. Foot

About 12 Spanish ships, with an aggregate tonnage of 4,000 g.r.t. are still engaged in trading between Spanish and enemy ports. This is a considerable reduction on the tonnage of a year ago. As regards the second part of the Question, negotiations are continuing.
