Captain Prescottasked the Minister of Town and Country Planning if he will give an assurance that, in formulating proposals for the compensation to be paid for the acquisition of land for public purposes, he will bear in mind that in many cases land has, since 31st March, 1939, been purchased by speculators at less than the value as at that date, in the hope of gaining profit based on the Government's announcement of 1939 values; and that such speculators will be deprived of any such gain.
