§ 47. Sir H. Williamsasked the Minister of Food if he will state the purpose of the Emergency Powers (Defence) Food (Citrus Food) Order (S.R. & O., No. 610, of 1944), having regard to the fact that no oranges at 1½d. per lb. were available on 4th June, 1944.
§ The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food (Mr. Mabane)The purpose of the Order to which my hon. Friend refers is, as explained in the Explanatory Note, to substitute a new range of maximum prices for oranges, including the maximum retail price of 7½d. per lb. in the place of the previous maximum price of 8½d. per 1b.
