§ 38 and 39. Mr. Stokesasked the President of the Board of Education (1) how many council schools have been built since 1502 1902 in areas which were hitherto single church school areas;
(2) how many proposals have been made for the building of council schools in single-school areas since 1902; and how many such proposals were turned down by his Department or by the local education authority on account of Church opposition and through the opposition of the ratepayers, respectively.
§ The President of the Board of Education (Mr. Butler)Some of the information for which he asks is not available and the rest could be obtained only by a scrutiny of the Board's records since 1902. I should find it difficult to justify the expenditure of time and labour on this task, especially in view of the impossibility of giving information which exactly tallies with the hon. Member's request.
