HC Deb 06 June 1944 vol 400 c1200
46. Wing-Commander James

asked the Prime Minister what steps have been taken, and are going to be taken, to bring home to Germans the meaning and consequences of the term unconditional surrender.

Mr. Attlee

My right hon. Friend the Prime Minister has no statement to make on this subject at the present time.

Wing-Commander James

Does not the right hon. Gentleman consider that it would be a good thing to undercut the propaganda of Goebbels in this matter?

Mr. Attlee

A statement was made recently by the Prime Minister on the subject.

47. Wing-Commander James

asked the Prime Minister what steps have been taken, and are going to be taken, to bring home to the Government and peoples of the satellite countries how they stand in relation to the defeat of Germany and the term unconditional surrender.

Mr. Attlee

The position in this respect has, I hope, been fully made clear in the Three Power Declaration of 12th May to the Axis satellites. I am satisfied that adequate arrangement have been made to bring this Declaration to the knowledge of the peoples concerned.
