§ 44. Mr. Mathersasked the Minister of Health whether he is yet in a position to make a statement of policy regarding control of prices of houses offered for sale by auction or otherwise.
§ Mr. WillinkNo, Sir, I am afraid not yet.
§ Mr. MathersThe long time taken seems to indicate that this is an intractable problem. If the right hon. and learned Gentleman finds that he is unable to solve it by way of control, will he pass it back to the Chancellor of the Exchequer in order that at least the profit might be taken out of this ramp?
§ Mr. WillinkAs I have told the hon. Gentleman the matter is being considered. I do not think I should take any further steps until that consideration is complete.
