HC Deb 26 July 1944 vol 402 c757
42. Major Sir Jocelyn Lucas

asked the Minister of Pensions whether uniformed education officers in the R.A.F., wounded and disabled by enemy action, are entitled to a pension at Air Force or civilian injuries scheme rates.

The Minister of Pensions (Sir Walter Womersley)

The persons referred to are engaged under an ordinary civil contract. Accordingly they come under the Personal Injuries (Civilians) Scheme for injury or death due to enemy action unless they are eligible for awards under the Injury Warrants applicable to civil servants.

Sir J. Lucas

But when an officer of that category gets seriously injured in a room full of other officers, is he to be paid differently from them?

Sir W. Womersley

He is paid under the civilian injuries scheme because he enters into a civil contract.
