HC Deb 26 July 1944 vol 402 c751
25. Mr. Edmund Harvey

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how much land has been surrendered to the Crown in British Honduras in lieu of arrears of land tax; what was the amount of the tax in question; and what use has been made of the land thus surrendered.

The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Colonel Oliver Stanley)

I regret that full particulars are not available in the Colonial Office. I am inquiring of the Governor and I will communicate further with the hon. Member.

Mr. Riley

May I ask the right hon. and gallant Gentleman whether he has in view as part of his plan its use for land settlement in British Honduras or the West Indies?

Colonel Stanley

That is quite a different question and perhaps the hon. Member will put it down.
