HC Deb 12 July 1944 vol 401 c1732
39. Miss Ward

asked the Prime Minister which Government Department is responsible for co-ordinating the policy with regard to the provisions of personnel for U.N.R.R.A., Civil Affairs, and the voluntary organisations working under the chairmanship of Sir William Good.

The Prime Minister (Mr. Churchill)

The recruitment of civilian personnel in this country for U.N.R.R.A. and the voluntary organisations is controlled by the Minister of Labour and National Service. The Ministry also arranges for the recruitment of civilian personnel into the Army for Civil Affairs.

Miss Ward

Has not the Minister of Labour some say in the policy of these organisations?

The Prime Minister

The Minister of Labour is a member of the Cabinet and has an important say in policy.
