HC Deb 11 July 1944 vol 401 cc1576-7
44. Wing-Commander James

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, since the recent murders of R.A.F. and other officer prisoners by the Gestapo took place under circumstances that prove the compliance of the Luftwaffe, who were the responsible camp authority, His Majesty's Government will make it clear that, as well as the Gestapo, they intend to bring to book for this crime the appropriate Luftwaffe senior officers and that, if any outrages occur in connection with Wehrmacht or Kriegsmarine prison camps, they intend to hold the chiefs of those services responsible also.

The Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Mr. George Hall)

The resolve of His Majesty's Government to track down and bring to exemplary justice the perpetrators of such crimes applies to all persons, whatever their rank and whether or not they are members of the German armed forces, who may be found to bear responsibility for the crime either as instigators or as actual perpetrators.
