HC Deb 26 January 1944 vol 396 c681
34. Mr. Edmund Harvey

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether any preparations have been made to provide suitable employment in British Honduras for the men from that Colony who will shortly be returning from work of national service in Great Britain.

Colonel Stanley

The Governor was given the earliest possible advance information by telegram of the return of these men; and in the same telegram mention was made of the importance of providing for their re-absorption into local employment. I am confident that he is doing everything possible to provide them with suitable employment. I am keeping in close touch with him and hope shortly to have further particulars which I shall be glad to communicate to the hon. Member.
