HC Deb 25 January 1944 vol 396 cc537-8
55. Mr. Graham White

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, as on the last convenient date, the amount of interest-free loans made to the Treasury since the outbreak of war.

Sir J. Anderson

The total received up to 18th January, 1944, was £63,427,000.

Mr. White

Will my right hon. Friend consider the advisability of drawing greater public attention to this desirable form of investment in connection with forthcoming savings campaigns?

Sir J. Anderson

I will certainly consider that.
