Friend to the answer which I gave to my hon. and gallant Friend, the Member for West Leeds (Major Vyvyan Adams) on 20th January, explaining that it was impracticable to apply "Pay as you Earn" to the Forces during the war. The question, however, of the basis of the assessment, as distinct from the method of collecting the tax, is at present under consideration.
