HC Deb 24 February 1944 vol 397 c1089

Lords Amendment: In page 2, line 45, after "may", insert "with his consent."

The Attorney-General (Sir Donald Somervell)

I beg to move, "That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment."

This is wholly an uncontroversial Amendment. It is made to the paragraph of the Scheme which provides that a puisne judge of the High Court may be transferred at the direction of the Lord Chancellor from one Division to another. The words to be inserted provide that the transfer cannot be made without the consent of the judge to be transferred. It was, nevertheless, contemplated that his consent would be obtained, but it has been thought desirable to make provision for it in the Bill.

Question put, and agreed to.
